Company Background: Our client is an early stage, fast growing manufacturing company near the airport in Austin, Texas. Since their launch in 2015, they have established themselves as a leader in their industry, and have been experiencing 40% growth per year. They are making investments to take their organization to the next level and are hiring a Human Resources Manager to own the HR function.
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Human Resources Manager with 8+ years of experience in the manufacturing, restaurant, retail industries. The role is pivotal as they transition their workforce and operations. This is an opportunity to shape the HR function and culture of a growing company with an employee headcount of less than 100. The HR Manager will be a key member of the management team and report directly to the CEO and will oversee a small team focusing on establishing the HR function.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and an employee handbook from the ground up
Establish and oversee HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations and compensation plans
Manage employee relations and facilitate a culture shift from a labor intensive environment to a more professional one
Lead the hiring and terminations, ensuring adherence to OSHA standards and compliance with labor laws
Implement training and development programs to recruit and train employees while enhancing their skillsets and engagement
Manage workers compensation claims and ensure a safe and compliant work environment
Collaborate with management to handle employee exits, promote internal talent, and retain top employees
Regularly report to the CEO on HR initiatives, workforce planning, and organizational development
Maintain HR records and metrics to track employee performance and retention
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
8+ years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or corporate restaurant/retail industry
Proven experience managing an hourly workforce and a professional workforce
Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, HR processes, compliance, and labor laws
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to travel to an additional plant in Nevada 4-6 times per year
Work is on-premise for the first 6-12 months, with a shift to a hybrid model thereafter.
