The Leave of Absence (LOA) department manager will be responsible for:
Manage the LOA Team to administer leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.) and ensure compliance with company policies
Direct the development and delivery of educational resources to employees, HR, and management about leave of absence protocols, promoting a culture of awareness and understanding
Develop and maintain reports and metrics related to leaves of absence
Facilitate open communication with employees and management regarding the leave process.
Initiate and facilitate the interactive process as necessary between employee and the company
Provide guidance to LOA Team regarding the interactive process, heightened situational leave issues or advanced leave guidelines
Ensure the protection and preservation of confidential employee medical documentation and files in accordance with HIPAA and Employee Privacy standards
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred
10 years of experience in managing leaves (FMLA, LTD, STD) and accommodations in a complex, multi-state environment
Relevant team management experience
Extensive knowledge of employee benefits as they relate to leaves of absence, including short/long term disability, COBRA, state disability, ADA, FMLA and other applicable laws
Completion of specialized certification or training on FMLA/leave administration required
Demonstrated ability to manage and administer a broad range of tasks including resolving complaints, and counseling employees and managers
Ability to handle confidential employee matters while maintaining confidentiality and tact
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills aiding in effective communication and working relationships with all levels of the organization
Peoplesoft, PowerBI and absence management experience a plus
