This exciting role will involve sourcing equipment, goods, and services, overseeing receiving, inventory stocking, kitting and delivery to the shop floor, and managing vendors. A solid understanding of strategic procurement activities across multiple vendor sourcing and qualification categories and searching for reliable suppliers with improved costing structures will be needed to be successful in this role. Responsibilities:
Evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, review product quality, and supervise purchasing agents, buyers, and inventory specialists
Purchase equipment, parts, and services
Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies
Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
Assess, manage, and mitigate risks
Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
Track and follow up on procurements to ensure promised delivery dates are maintained
Manage receiving, inventory, and kitting operations
Manage buyers and inventory specialists
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration is required
10+ years of relevant experience in purchasing is preferred
Experience with ERP systems as a management tool
Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management and using vendor management software
Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures
