The
Department of Anthropology at Texas State University invites applications for a new tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level in historical archaeology with an emphasis in the archaeology of Spanish colonialism or the African Diaspora in the Americas or Caribbean, to begin Fall 2025. The successful candidate will contribute to the department's baccalaureate degrees in anthropology, M.A. in anthropology, and Ph.D. in applied anthropology. Position responsibilities:1) Teach introductory and advanced classes in archaeology, historical archaeology and applied archaeology in all degree programs, as assigned.2) Provide practical training for undergraduate and graduate students.3) Maintain an externally funded, active research program that results in peer-reviewed publications.4) Mentor undergraduate, M.A., and Ph.D. students.5) Contribute to service activities in the department, college, and university.
