The Automation Manufacturing Engineer will use their expertise to resolve complex manufacturing issues in an aerospace production environment.
Responsibilities
Automation and Control Systems: Evaluate, select, and integrate robotic systems, control systems, and other automation technologies to automate manufacturing processes.
PLC Programming and HMI Development: Develop and program PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems to control and monitor manufacturing processes.
Integrate automation systems with existing manufacturing infrastructure, such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or MES (Manufacturing Execution System) systems.
Develop and execute test plans, perform system integration tests, and validate automation solutions against defined specifications.
Troubleshoot and debug automation systems to ensure proper functionality and performance.
Training and Documentation: Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for operators and maintenance personnel on the proper use, operation, and maintenance of automation systems.
Create and maintain documentation, including user manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM?s) and troubleshooting guides for automation systems.
Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures to mitigate risks associated with automated systems.
Design and create human-machine interfaces (HMIs) for operators to interact with and monitor automated systems.
Ensure seamless integration between PLCs, HMIs, and other automation components.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering required, Master's Degree in Engineering a plus.
Minimum 5 years of experience in automation technologies including robotics, software programming, tooling and test equipment design.
Demonstrated expertise with complex manufacturing engineering solutions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues.
Proficient with applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement.
Strong knowledge of automation technologies, including robotics, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and coordination of automation projects
Proficiency in VisualBasic 6.0 is required.
Proficiency in programming languages used in automation, such as ladder logic, structured text, function block diagram, Lab View, C++, Python, Java are preferred.
