Summary
Responsible for developing and executing test plans, procedures, and protocols for complex prototypes, and for production electromechanical systems such as robotic arms and unmanned ground vehicles.
Develops requirements, selects test equipment, develops test automation scripts or software, writes test procedures and troubleshooting instructions, and provides ongoing support and improvements in the course of product development, production and/or testing.
In addition, the Test Engineer assists in fabrication, troubleshooting, testing and warranty service of prototypes, working in close collaboration with sales, quality, manufacturing, service personnel, and engineering groups.
Primary and Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Broad understanding of electromechanical systems
Good troubleshooting and hands on skills (soldering, mechanical assembly, etc.)
Familiarity with instrumentation and tools required for debugging, testing and integration of electromechanical systems, such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
Experience creating test plans/procedures/protocols
Experience in the creating technical documentation
Ability and desire to learn new concepts and skills quickly
Communicates with technicians, engineers, vendors,and customers
Ability to manage assigned time-based projects and deliver within scope requirements
Experience with Linux operating system
Familiarity with industry test protocols such as MIL-STD 810 and 461
Processing manufacturing data and generating test reports
Demonstrated expertise in optimization of processes to reduce cost
Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
Adheres to all quality and safety standards
Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned
Experience / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
3-7 years of professional engineering work experience
Bachelor's degree engineering, engineering technology or other technical field preferred or relevant work experience. High School diploma required
Experience with motor control and sensor interfacing
Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System)
Software development skills (C/C++/Python)
Data analysis skills (Excel, Python, Matlab)
Able to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Operate CMM
Experience with CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
Experience operating a lathe, mill, and welder (preferred)
Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with customers, vendors, employees and managers at all levels within the company
Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
