Job Description:

Job Family Definition:

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design.

Management Level Definition:

Contributions impact technical components of HPE products, solutions, or services regularly and sustainable. Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Provides expertise and partnership to functional and technical project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for achieving objectives. May provide team leadership and mentoring to others.

Responsibilities:


  • Provides technical leadership of project teams consisting of other software systems engineers and internal and external/outsourced development partners responsible for all stages of software/firmware design and development for products and product solutions, including design, analysis, coding, testing, integration, and documentation.

  • Establishes and manages relationships with internal and external/outsourced development partners on software systems design and development.

  • Creates and evaluates designs and project activities within the scope of a given product/architecture in compliance with systems design and development, quality, security and reliability/testability guidelines and standards.

  • Produces and independently manages work breakdowns and schedule estimates and executes to identified product schedules. Effectively makes design and development tradeoffs within product/program constraints.

  • Provides strong domain-specific expertise and software systems leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.

  • Drives innovation and integration of relevant new technologies into projects and activities in the software systems design organization to achieve clear and measurable benefits.

  • Provides technical leadership, mentoring, and inclusive engagement of earlier career staff members to aid in their growth and development and to maximize project outcomes.

  • Delivery of end-user products to specified scope and quality standards in alignment with specified product development schedules.

  • Submits patent disclosures for product and technical innovations

Education and Experience Required:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.

  • Typically 6-10 years experience.

Knowledge and Skills:


  • Excellent analytical and applied problem-solving skills including rigorous systematic methodology for identification and validation of key factors/assumptions, triage, diagnosis, and root cause of issues and technical challenges in complex integrated systems.

  • Experience in participating in the design of systems for products and solutions.

  • Understanding of and applied experience in all phases of end-customer product development and delivery lifecycle including business and project delivery challenges/constraints.

  • Working independently within a specified architecture and/or product definition in the design, build, integration, and validation of software systems running on multiple platform types.

  • Demonstrated applied experience in software systems testing and associated methodologies, including writing and execution of unit, module, and system test plans, test automation, debugging, scripts, and tools.

  • Ability to effectively communicate design proposals, work breakdowns and task planning information, relevant status, and negotiate tradeoffs/options to senior management levels and below.

  • Ability to generate written documentation including problem descriptions and resolutions, development processes, technical design specifications, user documentation, minutes/status from collaborative meetings, and other work product artifacts.

  • Demonstrated experience in product improvement methodologies integrating feedback in an analytical closed loop fashion (CLCA, etc.).

  • Specific technical skills: ARM embedded microcontrollers, Embedded Linux, Yocto, C/C++, Python, CAN, Git/GitHub, REST/Redfish, network programming, networking protocols (TCP, IPv4, IPv6, SSDP, LLDP, HTTP/s), I2C, secure SW/FW development, Linux system administration

  • Excellent written / verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Can effectively tailor communication to relevant target audience which include peer developers, testers, product support, as well as product, project, and development management and first level executives (director level).

  • Effective collaboration as part of diverse, distributed team to identify and deliver to team objectives in support of business outcomes.

  • Effective time management. Self-sufficient and can manage multiple tasks/activities without supervision.

The expected salary/wage range for a U.S. -based hire filling this position is provided below. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. If this is a sales role, then the listed salary range reflects combined base salary and target-level sales compensation pay. If this is a non-sales role, then the listed salary range reflects base salary only. Variable incentives may also be offered. USD Annual Salary: $117,500.00 - $270,000.00
