We are seeking a full-time Senior Pilot ExperienceProduct Designer in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding fundamental usability and user centered design principals to guide software user interface development for aviation products including integrate flight decks and state-of-the-art cockpit designs.
Essential Functions
May perform as a design lead who guides design direction for a small project or sub project
Performs user interviews and observational research and interprets research data to create viable solutions
Creates interactive prototypes and conducts user tests to improve and validate a design
Takes ownership for key features in a product line
Remains current on user research methods and conducts effective research for generating and improving designs
Works with partners and potential partners to define the user experience
Stays abreast with new prototyping, presentation or computer graphics techniques and software
Demonstrates full use of design standards and procedures
Demonstrates a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion
Presents design ideas to various disciplines or customers
Independently produces solid design solutions and provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems
Serves as a mentor to less experienced User Experience Designers (User Experience Designer 1)
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Interactive Design, Human Factors, Visual Design or a degree with an equivalent curriculum that teaches user centered design principles AND a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience OR a minimum of 5 years equivalent combination of education and relevant experience performing the essential functions of the Garmin Product Designer role
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Proficiency and knowledge using a variety of design tools
Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills
Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of good user interface design (consistency, simplicity, usability)
Desired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
Experience in graphics production, graphics editing technology, motion graphics, interactive design works and/or videography.
Software skills using Figma, Blender, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or After Affects
Pilot Certificate (Private Pilot license, Instrument rating, etc.)
