Join our team as a Contract Negotiation Specialist and take charge of the Capital Contracting Lifecycle aspects of BD's Diagnostic Systems (DS) regional-based US business. This role offers a unique chance to work with a team that follows standard processes and embraces an ambitious, world-class approach to contract development. Your role will be crucial in implementing proven policies that align with the US sales strategy and ensuring flawless execution of contract offer development.
HYDRID: 4 days in the office (Monday-Thursday) and 1 day remote (Friday)
Key responsibilities will include:
Perform critical tasks of analyzing and summarizing important technical, operational, legal, financial, risk management, and administrative concerns for non-lawyers. Support business strategy, RFP submissions, contract drafting, and negotiation, maintaining stellar detail orientation in all verbal and written communications.
Seek appropriate guidance and involvement from team and other functional groups toward the development and continuous improvement of contract templates evolving with the industry. This includes collaboration with Customer Service, Platform Management and Marketing teams, Regulatory, Law Group, Risk Management, Accounting, and Contracts Management, facilitating appropriate communication and reporting.
Review and draft non-standard terms, performing initial analysis and issue spotting, collaborating with the Customer Service team, Contracts Manager, Law Group, and other subject matter experts. Communicate issues and concerns with precision to enable timely and informed decisions by collaborators, tracking, and documentation of approvals in accordance with BD policy.
Continually demonstrate a high level of motivation and team purpose, maintaining high-quality work product standards and accountability. Exhibit quick comprehension, fact-finding, and research skills while vetting voluminous, sophisticated documentation.
Champion team commitment to timely, high-quality deliverables and continuous improvement. This includes professional, positive, productive, and collaborative communication, respect for policies, SOPs, and business processes. Clarify BD objectives, respect for precedent and contract integrity principles supporting standardization, efficiency, and consistency between internal partners and customer agreements, and accountability regarding project timing and deliverables.
Act as a negotiator directly with customers when negotiating standard contract terms. Work directly with Sales, Legal, Service, Marketing, and other SMEs to balance customer requirements while protecting BD's interests and mitigating risk.
Provide guidance and influence to the organization as it relates to appropriately structure and negotiate contractual provisions and commitments on behalf of BD.
Help administer and carry out policies, procedures, and processes to harmonize contract negotiation and general provisions, with appropriate flexibility to meet customer/market needs and dynamics. Ensure that risk is mitigated and regulations are appropriately addressed consistently across all business offerings.

Education and experience required:
Bachelor's in Paralegal Studies is required - J.D is strongly preferred
We require at least 3 years' post-bar admission experience, including contract review, drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts is required. (Legal professionals who opted not to take the bar will be considered if experience reflects strong working knowledge of corporate and contract law, commercial transactions, and healthcare information security).
A minimum of 3 years of proven ability negotiating terms and conditions of commercial contracts.
Deep understanding of capital contract management, including contract strategy development, negotiations, general terms with Medical Device Capital and Consumables products and services, legal, risk, and business implications of contract language.
Demonstrated customer-centricity skills and consistent expectations across the team, able to negotiate and adapt to customer needs while maintaining protection of BD's interests.
Validated ability to quickly establish credibility, trust, and support within all levels of the organization.
Self-starter, minimal direction in performing assigned tasks and ability to act with speed, agility, and accountability to drive desirable outcomes.
Work with Sales, Finance, Legal Counsel, and Sales Support Leaders to develop contract offerings that communicate complex ideas and demonstrate the value of solutions.
Must be able to work independently, multitask, and prioritize workload in order to meet demanding deadlines, including flexible work hours.
Travel up to 10% for team meetings, training, etc.
