Plan, organize, implement, and monitor the daily activities of the USS claims operations team. Manage, personnel and department activities in a manner that results in timely and accurate property/casualty loss resolutions. Establish best in class claims practices and policies nationally and deliver high quality claim outcomes. Assist in Risk Management and loss control initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Oversight of the commercial claims management function which will include internal and external facing responsibilities interacting with internal stakeholders, customers, vendors and regulatory constituencies as needed. • Responsibility for the planning, organization, and monitoring for the daily activities of the commercial claims' operations team. • Partnering with staff, develop and implement Best Practices throughout the commercial claims' operation ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality claim outcomes. • Develop, drive, and continuously improve department SOPs and KPIs • Assist and help formulate the claims handling strategies to achieve greatest efficiency and cost control in multiple jurisdictions. • Manage claims staff in regulatory and statutory compliance efforts. • Working closely with Legal to coordinate claims activities and initiatives designed to control costs and achieve positive outcomes in litigation management. • Manage performance management duties, development planning and coaching for direct reports cascading throughout the commercial claim's operation. • Assist in the development and maintenance of departmental staffing strategy
SKILLS: • Demonstrate mastery of commercial auto, property and liability claims management. • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in leading, developing, and overseeing multiple state claims management. • Extensive technical knowledge especially in multi-jurisdictional claim management standards, practices, and procedures. Specific focus on commercial claims management is preferred. • Proficiency in establishing strategic metrics and goals for measuring success across the claims department. Strong interpersonal skills • Ability to forge strong working relationships with internal and external business leaders • Ability to manage competing demands while being extremely adaptable and flexible • Excellent project management, business writing and oral communication skills • Candidate must be adept at resolving escalated issues with claimants, consumers,
customers, attorneys and regulators. Must have excellent professional presentation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact and engage all levels of management/leadership • Critical thinker and results oriented • Must maintain highest level of Confidentiality at all times. • Ability to multi-task, follow up, and meet deadlines • Strong attention to detail • Ability to identify discrepancies and take initiative to research variances and correct.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • Results-oriented, enthusiastic, and self-motivated manager capable of motivating and leading teams toward positive change and improvement. • Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills; adept at problem solving and critical thinking. • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. • Bachelor's degree required, Advanced degree is preferred; insurance designations such as CPCU, ARM, etc. are preferred.
