GENERAL SUMMARYIn this role, you will act as the accounting, finance, and administration support partner for operational project managers and program managers. Working in tandem with a handful of team members, you will closely monitor the financial progress of projects, and ensure billings are issued to clients and payments collected. This role requires frequent interaction with other accounting staff to solve billing issues, project expenses, profit recognition, and forecast financial performance. It also interfaces with virtually every area of the business including our VPs of Operations, Controller, account managers, project managers, field staff and project support personnel. You will also assist with other accounting functions which may include monthly close, journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules, backfilling for all levels of accounting staff, and special projects.

What you'll do

    • Maintain project-related records, including project jobs and change orders.
    • Substantial interaction with project managers and others regarding agreement documents, invoicing, budgeting, forecasting and revenue recognition.
    • Manage project compliance (project terms, billing deadlines, insurance, reporting, etc.).
    • Authorize employee access to charge projects.
    • Prepare draft and final invoices timely and accurately.
    • Respond to requests for more detail from clients regarding billings.
    • Monitor accounts receivable and work with project managers on collection efforts.
    • Analyze and report on project profitability to management.
    • Track project budgets.
    • Assist with obtaining project manager approvals on expenses.
    • Provides accounts payable with advice on coding relative to consultant invoicing and project expenses.
    • Prepares special project analyses as required.
    • Compile information for external auditors as required.

Qualifications

    • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, construction management, or similar. In lieu of a degree, 1-3 years’ experience in highly transferrable skills or work history is acceptable ( in construction, technology, consulting, or engineering industries)
    • 3+ years’ experience in project accounting in construction, technology, consulting, or engineering
    • Advanced proficiency with Excel (V and X lookups, pivot tables, significant formula creation), with intermediate skills in other MS Office products
    • Experience with different management and customer billing portals such as Ariba, Textura, Coupa, Procore
    • Comprehension of GAAP and ASC606 Compliance regarding revenue recognition and the ability to interpret contracts into revenue
    • Comprehension of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) in Contract Management
    • Ability to meet priorities and deadlines impacting accounting while working in a highly fluid operations environment.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, willingness, and ability to put the needs of the team first (when required and as needed) to contribute to department and company goals and deadlines.

$75,000 - $95,000 a year
