The Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (EEES) at Clemson University invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in Earth Sciences commencing in the Fall 2025 semester. The Program is housed within the EEES Department in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences. The candidate must have a PhD in Geosciences, Geophysics, Geological Engineering, or a closely related discipline. This individual should have strong scholarly research output and interests in cutting edge topics that will complement the existing strengths of the Hydrogeology and Geology programs within the EEES department. Preference will be given to candidates whose research program integrates Earth Systems Analysis into opportune topics such as climate change, greenhouse gas control, geothermal energy and energy storage, geologic hydrogen production, hydrogeophysics, and coupled groundwater, surface water, and/or atmospheric processes. A desirable candidate will be able to combine field observations with quantitative analysis. The candidate is expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The ability to teach geophysics and geostatistics is desirable. Development of new courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level will be encouraged. The candidate will be expected to advise MS and PhD students in the EEES Department, and to develop a high-quality, externally funded research program. The successful candidate is also expected to support a culture of inclusive excellence and belonging; foster a vibrant teaching portfolio in Hydrogeology and Geology courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and engage and prepare students for successful and impactful careers in industry, government, or academia. Participation in activities that promote the Hydrogeology and Geology programs will be encouraged. Excellent opportunities exist for research and teaching collaboration with colleagues in the Program, Department, School and University.
