The Senior Research Associate 3 supports research activities under the direction of a principle investigator, program director or designee of the principle investigator or program director.
Core Job Functions
1. Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data.
2. Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
3. Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.
4. Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
5. Designs, evaluates, and implements methods and protocols for assigned research projects.
6. Recommends purchase of new equipment for research projects.
7. Writes scientific articles and manuscripts for publication and presentation.
8. Oversees and ensures the safe handling of radioactive and hazardous materials.
9. Prepares analytical reports relative to research data.
10. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions
1.Main projects will include cell culturing, with a focus on stem cells.
2.Expertise in Luminex/bioplex analysis preferred.
3.Expertise in qPCR and quantstudio analysis preferred.
4.Performs specialized and complex experiments/studies.
5.Participates in the publication of significant research results.
6.Advances expertise through education, training, and research.
7.Maintains records of all research work and findings.
8.Synthesizes results and writes portions of extramural grants/proposals to gain support when appropriate.
9.Operates sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment and performs all maintenance necessary.
10.Performs calculations to complete research test results.
12.A team player with the ability and flexibility to push into novel methodologies independently.
13.Ability to multitask, work well under pressure and drive concrete objectives with defined end-points on critical timelines.
14.Flexibility in the ability to work evenings, nights and weekends are a rarity, but preferred if deadlines are critical.
15.Willingness to perform general lab maintenance and lab adherence to all EHS policies.
16.Participates in training sessions and workshops. Adheres to University and unit-level policies, procedures, and safeguards University assets.
17.Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
