Location: Fully On-Site in Woodland Hills or Monrovia, CA
Salary Range: $59,280 - $80,000
Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
About the Role: An established defense litigation firm specializing in personal injury and catastrophic injury claims is seeking a skilled Legal Assistant for its busy Woodland Hills or Monrovia office. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong civil litigation experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable managing deadlines, ensuring attorneys stay on schedule, and assisting with trial preparation.
Key Responsibilities
Perform case intake, opening, and management
Maintain and manage litigation deadlines, ensuring timely filings and responses
Handle filing and service in California superior, federal, and appellate courts
Assist with trial preparation, including document preparation, motions in limine, and exhibit binder creation
Support attorneys in managing expert designation and deposition processes
Communicate with clients and insurance carriers via email and phone
Skills and Qualifications
Court Rules Knowledge: Familiarity with filing and service rules for pleadings and discovery, trial-triggered deadlines
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Communication Skills: Comfortable interacting with clients and insurance carriers
Trial Prep: Previous trial preparation experience, including service and filing of trial documents
