Job Description


The Schottenstein Center is the home of the Ohio State University Men's and Women's Basketball teams and Men's Ice Hockey. The 20,000-seat multipurpose facility also hosts a wide variety of special events, concerts, family shows and touring productions. Home of the Buckeyes - Arena to the Stars! This position serves as a supervisor on the Operations team. The Building Services Supervisor manages and coordinates the general operations part time labor force in duties of daily and project janitorial work in conjunction with the other Operations Department staff. This position will maintain inventory and order housekeeping supplies for the facility, as well as manage building services contractors as needed. Performs routine maintenance and repairs on all relevant janitorial equipment and machines. Performs and directs staff in a variety of event and meeting set up, maintenance, engineering, landscape, and project work. Organizes full and part-time labor, University entities, and contractors to develop and implement annual snow plan to clear walkways, loading dock, and bus loop of snow and ice. This position will also maintain all snow equipment and snow removal supplies. Assists the Event Operations team to set up meeting room spaces, as well as all athletic and special event needs including home hallway, visitor's hallway, public concourse, and chair set duties. This is a working supervisor position and is expected to participate in the work listed above. While this position will primarily work a day shift Monday - Friday, it requires a willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours will vary due to operational needs. This position may be asked to assist in events held at other Athletic or CASE facilities. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays required. Performs other duties as assigned.






Minimum Education Required


High School diploma or GED. Certification or vocational training may be required. Associate degree in relevant field may be preferred. 2 years of relevant experience required. 4-6 years of relevant experience preferred.






Preferred Qualifications


Bachelor's Degree and or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong written, verbal, and communication skills required. One to three (1-3) years supervisory experience in the housekeeping or custodial function. Knowledge of the methods, principles and practices in operating and maintaining a major facility. Knowledge of common tools used in custodial, carpentry, landscape and warehouse operations.
