To secure and steward restricted and unrestricted gifts from assigned individuals, believed capable of making $250,000 to $5+ million gifts in support of Dartmouth College's institutional priorities, and to work with the Executive Director and other staff to increase Dartmouth's visibility along the West Coast region.

Develops and implements comprehensive cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for approximately 150 individual prospects. Works both independently and in concert with senior officers, Trustees, other colleagues and volunteers to implement strategies including direct solicitation of gifts. Organizes, trains and supports volunteers to engage and solicit leadership gift prospects. Qualifies identified prospects through individual visits, advises research department of potential new prospects and assumes specific responsibility for prospect activity in assigned region. Reviews and analyzes the currently identified prospect pool to assess accuracy of research and amends and expands profiles as appropriate. Promotes maximum involvement with and giving to Dartmouth, including annual, capital and planned gifts, from identified portfolio of prospects. Works with colleagues in the Dartmouth College Fund, Gift Planning and Principal Giving to develop strategies for individual prospects. Devises individualized involvement/engagement strategies for all prospects using a "top-down" approach to ensure that highest rated prospects receive the most attention. Schedules appointments and oversees the preparation of necessary materials, including funding proposals, briefings for senior officers and Trustees and scheduled stewardship reports, for all assigned prospects utilizing campus resources. Identifies prospects to participate in specific events, committees or other programs that promote the cultivation process. Plans and oversees occasional development events of varying tone and scale. Ensures stewardship is provided to donors on existing endowment and current-use funds. Responds quickly and effectively to strategic opportunities for increased prospect engagement.

Articulates and implements strategies for communicating with donors and advocates the needs of the College to assigned prospects; drafts and customizes institutional correspondence, proposals and other written materials for all assigned prospects. Develops networks with campus colleagues to keep current with what is happening on campus and with best practices and emerging trends in philanthropy. Develops collegial and productive relationships with colleagues in other College programs particularly those in the Dartmouth College Fund, Gift Planning and Principal Giving as well as with colleagues in the professional schools. Attends appropriate college events, programs, and meetings. Upholds and models the core values and operating principles of the Dartmouth Development Office
