JOB RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Research - Design, implement and execute state of the art research. Conduct research both independently and collaboratively that is often dependent upon or associated with other ongoing research projects, or is service related.



  • Training and Education - Mentor technicians, students and fellows in academic skills. Promote interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships and encourage team concepts. Provide direction to students and residents, fellows and other health care professionals in research and professional conduct. Ability to teach research protocol and methodology to medical students and residents, and fellows. Attend and participate in lectures, seminars, presentations, and conferences within the division as well as multi-disciplinary conferences. Participate in national conferences either as an official attendee or a presenter. May implement knowledge to patient care plans and procedures. Abide by the continuing education goals of the department. Maintain currency in field through continuing education, literature and seminars. Implement this knowledge into the Division and/or Department.



  • Scholarly Activity - Write and publish peer reviewed manuscripts that are competitive for the best journals. Write and submit competitive grant proposals for additional extramural funding. Present the data at important national meetings. Publish and/or co-author findings and conclusions resulting from research in a timely fashion. Presents findings internally. May assist in the design and implementation of programs which evaluates the efficacy of treatment. May assist in obtaining funding from outside sources for research and teaching programs.



  • Regulatory Compliance - Maintain currency in all departmental policies, procedures and standards. Maintain currency in field through continuing education, literature and seminars. Implement this knowledge into Divisional structure. Maintain compliance as required by CCHMC policy. Understand, adhere to and model Core Standards as defined organizationally and specifically within the department/unit. Is compliance with policies and procedures regarding the handling of confidential information as defined by CCHMC's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Ensure orientation, in-service training and continuing education according to CCHMC guidelines.





JOB QUALIFICATIONS



  • Advanced degree Doctor of Philosophy OR Doctor of Medicine OR the equivalent


  • May require prior postdoctoral experience in specific research area


  • Instructor faculty appointment or eligibility


  • 3+ years of postdoctoral experience in the specific research area
