Cutting Tools Inc. is seeking an experienced Sales Application Engineer for the defined geography to grow an account base through expert knowledge of the cutting tool commodity with the ability to apply this knowledge to drive customer productivity enhancements. Position Description: • This position requires a strong technical aptitude in large manufacturing and machine shop environments • Qualified applicants will demonstrate past success in product application experience related to the cutting tool commodity - indexable tooling, carbide and HSS round tools, and special tooling - with end-user accounts • Must have experience as an application specialist/sales engineer with cutting tool entities that either manufacture products (indexable tool manufacturers, round tool manufacturers) or with a technical cutting tool distributor • Must be able to work as an extension of end-user engineering departments, and become a technical asset that customers depend upon for assistance when new jobs and new tooling is needed • Must be comfortable and proficient "working at the spindle" with operators and engineers to test products, recommend machining parameters, and modify processes to optimize tools and machines • Must be proficient in documenting cost savings and productivity improvements on testing and tool recommendations • Must have a professional demeanor with the ability to sell to all levels within an organization • Must have customer empathy and genuine interest in helping customer achieve their organizational goals • Must be committed to maintaining expertise in the metalworking field and committed to staying abreast of machining and tooling advances • Must be team oriented, have a positive attitude, and always searching for the one reason it CAN be done rather than obsessing over the multiple reasons it can't
Position Requirements • 10+ years of technical, consultative, and solution focused cutting tool sales required • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering a plus • Understanding of CNC machining applications including milling, drilling, boring, and turning • Ability to specify tooling requirements based upon customer part prints • Ability to specify tooling for new applications, new jobs, new projects, and tooling-up new machines • Demonstrated success in securing accounts, growing a sales territory in a cutting tool environment, and meeting/exceeding sales goals • Strong value-added and solution selling skills • Ability to cold call and prospect, and transition prospects into customers • Strong project management skills • Strong Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel • Must reside in close proximity to the defined geographic area of responsibility • Customer contacts/relationships and knowledge of the defined market a significant plus
