We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President of Business Development (BD) to lead and manage our business development team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in contract staffing, and a proven track record of driving business growth and leading high-performing sales/BD teams.
Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership and Management:
Oversee and manage the business development team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
Hire and train new team members, ensuring they understand our company's mission, values, and sales processes.
Create and manage progression plans and leadership development programs for the BD team.
2. Strategic Planning and Execution:
Develop and execute business development strategies, including market specializations, expansion, and vertical growth.
Optimize team structure (BD Representatives, Managers, and Directors) to best utilize individual capabilities
3. Hands-On Coaching and Support:
Provide day-to-day coaching to team members, helping them achieve their goals.
Act as a backup for business development team members when needed.
Organize sales contests and team-building activities to motivate and engage the team.
4. Client Engagement and Negotiations:
Lead client presentations and proposals.
Act as a legal liaison during client agreements and negotiations.
Travel with BD team for key client meetings and industry conferences.
5. Performance Metrics and Reviews:
Track KPIs to measure team performance.
Conduct weekly meetings and performance reviews to assess progress and address challenges.
6. Automation and Efficiency:
Research and implement business development automation tools to increase BD outreach efficiency
Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for efficient business development practices.
7. Strategic Account Management:
Develop strategic account plans for key clients, ensuring focused BD effort to capitalize on expansion opportunities.
Maintain and update client-related information and reports such as active client agreements, contractors per client, etc.
8. Collaboration and Communication:
Represent the business development team in periodic management meetings.
Work closely with BD, Recruitment and Operations teams during the entire lifecycle of placements.
Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of contract staffing experience, including at least 5 years leading sales or business development teams.
Experience in life sciences preferred (biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical device staffing).
