LHH is partnering with a manufacturing company in search of a Sales and Use Tax Specialist for a key role in managing multi-state tax compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual who excels in tax calculation, reporting, and audit preparation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate collection and timely filing of sales and use tax returns, assisting in state and local audits, and maintaining tax certifications across jurisdictions. Additionally, you'll support the finance and accounting teams by preparing journal entries and responding to tax inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure accurate calculation, filing, and payment of sales and use taxes across various states.
Assist in state and local tax audits, including data gathering and professional communication.
Maintain and manage sales tax certifications for customer transactions.
Stay informed on tax laws and compliance updates, implementing internal adjustments as necessary.
Utilize tax compliance software for reporting and ensuring accuracy.
Provide accounting support as needed, including journal entry preparation.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in sales tax compliance, preferably in a multi-state environment.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and tax software (experience with Avalara is a plus).
Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and customer service focus.
Ability to analyze documents, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues.
