Project Manager

This is a key position within Infinera’s Global Services team. The role of the Project Manager is to manage the successful implementation of the Infinera Professional Services product suite. They will facilitate communications and support multiple internal teams as a key customer facing team member - work closely and act as a key interface and central driving and coordination point for Partner resources, Professional Services Engineers, TAC, PLM and Engineering to ensure that full product team deliverables, issues, schedules from various groups are driven, coordinated, tracked, communicated cross functional team and decisions driven and consensus built to support assigned customers.

The PM will be required to analyze situations or issues that require an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives, as well as an understanding of company intricacies. They will help implement policies when selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. They will use communication skills to share complex information and diffuse tense conversations with tact and diplomacy. They are required to escalate key issues quickly and effectively and help drive to resolution. When challenges arise, they will show leadership in pulling cross-functional teams together to address critical issues.

The individual must possess excellent verbal communication and presentation skills to lead multiple weekly conference with participants of all levels of authority. The individual will schedule and document meetings, meeting notes, action issue registers, maintain documentation and status on the Intranet and have advanced excel skills. They must have the ability to provide succinct, compressive reports and updates and maintain with high level of consistency.

Tangible results will be measured thru on-time delivery of programs, management to cost/margin targets, and CSAT. Metrics will also include the preparation of customer facing communications including status reports, quality and issue resolution and material tracking to deliver world class customer service.

Key activity descriptions:

Manage Network Deployments

The role of the Project Manager, Professional Services is to Project Manage the successful implementation of the Infinera Professional Services product suite.Job Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing a project plan for EF&I & Professional Services, maintain the Customer Action Register and the customer documentation package.
  • Manage customer implementations, interface, manage support partners and implement best practice quality assurance standards.
  • The Project Manager must be able to develop and implement the most cost-effective logistics and deployment strategy without affecting Infinera’s industry leading standards of quality.
  • Align with the PMO for Global Support and Services. Define and manage the cross functional action register. Create project plans for internal departmental initiatives.

Service Proposal Management

The PM will be a key contributor in Pre-Sales phase for Global Services:

  • Provide quotes as required for requested professional services
  • Ensures the offer is deliverable, such that Infinera can commit to the offer being submitted from time, cost & quality with key risks identified and mitigated

Controlling and Optimizing Service Delivery Performance
The PM will also monitor operational KPIs for key customers i.e. SLA, time, scope, quality, health & safety and initiate mitigation measures as required:

  • Deliver projects that meet customer and project-specific cost and margin targets
  • Controlling, reporting and optimizing services delivery in alignment with relevant Project Management & Global support processes
  • Monitors and controls services delivery with operational KPIs to ensure that Services Delivery Management is fact based with verified schedules and forecasts
  • Collects actual Services Delivery Performance information and compares actual performance with baseline(s)
  • Determines the causes to any perceived deviation and implements proactive re-planning to keep the services delivery on the course
  • Participation in periodic reviews with the customer e.g. Review Meetings, AIR meetings

Education & Experience Necessary For Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. BS in Business Administration, CS, EE, Engineering or ME strongly preferred.
  • Ideally have 5+ years’ experience in customer service, program or project management in cross functional program management (HW/SW/Test/Manufacturing/Sales/Support/Engineering) in telecommunications field.
  • PMP certification or Project Management related certification is a plus.
  • Possess great initiative, flexibility, superior judgment and have excellent leadership skills.
  • Must have a superior knowledge of business process and product life cycle management. Must be able to quickly learn and help develop business process to make an immediate impact.
  • Possess the drive to work in a fast-paced environment. An independent worker, self-starter that has experience to act on issues with appropriate urgency and with little guidance and understand implied tasks is a must.
  • Must possess superb communication skills with efficient use of the standard communication tools, including superior presentation skills. Must be articulate enough to convey technical ideas to non-technical team members.
  • Has the ability to multi-task within a single project or across multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite particularly Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio and SharePoint
