The Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric and Earth Science at the University of Miami has an exciting full time position for a Sr. Financial Analyst.The Sr. Financial Assistant reports to the Director of Finance and will assist with the business and fiscal operations for RSMAES. The incumbent will be an individual with strong communication and organization skills. The successful candidate will also have a basic understanding of financial processes. An attention to detail and insistence on the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability, and usefulness of business information will be important characteristics. Be responsible and lead several fiscal and operational recurring functions within the Business Office's purview.The Sr. Financial Assistant will serve as a resource for faculty, staff, and students.
Specifically, the Sr. Financial Assistant will:
Assist in preparing journal entries, and reconciliations, against University financial records system.
Responsible for all Business Office procurement and travel card expense reconciliations and ensure that It is provided and all proper documentation uploaded.
Gather and compile necessary documentation for Business Office while ensuring compliance to UM policies and procedures.
Assist with student expense reimbursements submitted through financial aid and verify documentation requirements.
Manage student, faculty, and staff departmental purchases, and expenses.
Assist with review and reconciliation of operating accounts and report discrepancies of major variances.
Assist business office administrators with various financial projects.
Serve as a resource for other departments providing financial and administrative support to faculty, staff and students.
Be responsible and lead several fiscal and operational recurring functions within the Business Office's purview.
Create and maintain document management system for journal entries, and all contracts.
Provide administrative support to the Sr. Business Officer and Director.
Work with business office administrators to ensure the timely submittal, approval and execution of purchase orders, expense reports, etc.
Handle student, faculty and staff airline reservations and travel advance paperwork.
Be responsible for creating and sustaining a collaborative work environment where personnel are treated respectfully, ethically and professionally at all times; responsible for building positive and productive relationships with colleagues at all levels and departments across campus.
Perform, at the highest professional level, of all other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent.
Three years of progressively responsible experience.
Ability to work in a complex environment with the skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, establish priorities, set objectives, and achieve stated goals.
Ability to work as a team or independently
Knowledge of fiscal processes.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent computer and organizational skills.
Ability to review, enter, and verify information with accuracy and a reasonable rate of speed.
Strong customer service focus.
Analytical and moderate Excel skills required.
