The Stanford King Center on Global Development (King Center) is a university-wide research center working to help improve the lives of people living in poverty around the world. Based at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR), the King Center enables a multidisciplinary community of Stanford scholars to conduct path-breaking research, shape policy and practice, and train and inspire a diverse new generation of global leaders. The King Center's network of over 120 faculty affiliates from across the Stanford campus conducts research in more than 65 countries. A vital facet of the King Center's work is fostering a diverse and talented new generation of global development scholars by providing opportunities for students to engage in world-class research and experiential learning. POSITION SUMMARY:




The Stanford King Center on Global Development seeks a Program Associate to provide administrative and operational support for our student and faculty programs. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating our junior faculty grant program, the undergraduate research assistant programs, graduate student research grant and fellowship programs, and other existing and new faculty and student programs. You will be the key liaison between faculty members, students, and the King Center and will coordinate program outreach to students and faculty, handle application processes, process stipends, address questions, and design surveys of participants in King Center programs. You will also be responsible for providing information on our student and faculty programs for stewardship reports, designing and maintaining program tracking spreadsheets, contributing data for the center's annual report, and writing grant proposals.

CORE DUTIES:



  • Act on behalf of the supervisor, department manager, or chair in regards to establishing priorities and identifying and resolving problems that are administrative in nature.
  • Oversee and/or perform duties associated with scheduling, organizing, and operating complex conferences, seminars, and events, including arranging with vendors for services, overseeing the production and distribution of materials, administering logistics, and managing event within budget.
  • Compose and draft documents and correspondence for presentations, course handouts, grants, conferences, seminars, and reports; perform substantial editing and fact checking. Create, maintain, modify, and/or ensure accuracy of content in various unit documents, displays, reports, brochures, social media, and/or websites.
  • Plan and schedule calendar(s) with limited consultation, resolve calendaring conflicts, and arrange travel in compliance with unit, university, and sponsor policies.
  • Create complex reports and spreadsheets which may utilize specialized software and systems.
  • Oversee and/or process a variety of complex financial transactions; produce, monitor, and reconcile budget statements; research, identify, and resolve discrepancies. May assist with capital or special equipment requests and/or vendor selection.
  • Coordinate and monitor routine maintenance services completion. Plan and coordinate office moves and/or minor renovation projects.
  • May lead staff or supervise day-to-day work of student and/or temporary workers, including scheduling, assigning, and prioritizing workloads, setting appropriate deadlines, reviewing work for quality and timeliness, and providing performance review input

OPTIONAL: This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting, subject to operational need. Anticipated time on campus is 80%.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:





Education & Experience:



High school diploma and four years of administrative experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Advanced computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications.
  • Demonstrated success in tracking, communicating, completing, and completing follow up on multiple projects.
  • A strong background and proven track record in juggling competing demands, projects, deadlines, and priorities with the highest degree of professionalism and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and assign work to others.
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.
  • Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions.



Past experience with faculty affairs or student services at Stanford is a plus, as is an interest in global development.




PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:



  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sitting.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl.
