Job Description Summary
This position will assist in the management of multiple clinical trials and responsibilities in specific research area. Coordinate the screening of patients, subject enrollment, collection and storage of biological samples and related study documents, and collection of clinical data. Assist with Institutional Review Board (IRB) filings and inquiries, and assist in the preparation of manuscripts, grant proposals, and research related presentations. Works closely with the Principal Investigator, manager, and study team to identify problems and develop solutions. Implement approved changes to procedures as needed and monitor results. Responsible for study coordination for investigator-initiated studies, multi-center research studies, and patient-oriented clinical and translational research projects.
Job Description
The Clinical Research Coordinator A will coordinate research studies examining the genetic basis and treatment of diseases affecting the liver and gastrointestinal tract. This will include development and improvement of IRB study protocols, screening and enrollment of potential inpatient, outpatient and emergency room study subjects; participating in the conduct of audits; processing and shipment of saliva, blood and tissue specimens; scheduling patient visits and any necessary testing; obtaining records required to complete case report forms; conduct initiation, monitoring and closeout visits with Sponsor or CRO; adhere to all Penn ICF and FDA guidelines; data entry and maintenance of a REDCap database. There is potential opportunity for involvement in Phase I-IV clinical trials, including coordination, organization and maintenance of all documentation required by Sponsor or CRO; data entry; resolve data queries with Sponsor or CRO. Weekend work may be required as specified in protocols. Regular communication with study group members including physicians, genetic counselors, scientists, sponsors, and IRB and regulatory staff is required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required for this position. Effective problem solving capabilities. Effective communication and writing skills. Ability to multitask. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team or independently. Knowledge of IRB and human research protection regulations preferred.
