Performs assignments supporting project teams in the design and development of products. Works closely with a project team. Requires entry-level technical skills and some understanding of the product development process.
Responsibilities
Manage time and deliverables with minimal supervision to meet team objectives
Identify, acquire, and make use of new sources of vehicle and product-related information such as protocol or repair details. Works with Snap-on systems and software to develop diagnostic tools applications.
Participate in engineering proto builds along with operations, development engineers, and contract manufacturers
Assist in building and debugging of prototype component builds as well as troubleshooting current products
Independently perform elements of product validation testing as directed
Prepare information for project reviews
Prepare project documentation suitable for product release. Monitor project development costs in area of responsibility (Contractor spend).
Assist in recruiting and interviewing potential team members
Work with Snap-on systems and software to develop diagnostic tools applications
Comfortable working around vehicle electronic and electrical systems with knowledge of vehicle network systems. Capable of removing and replacing automotive components, returning the vehicle to equal or better than before condition.
Direct contractors and field technicians by setting tasks and monitoring progress
Build and debug applications and content with limited supervision
Assist in product validation testing as directed
Assist in preparation of documentation necessary to develop and release new applications and content. Learn and understand Company design and release processes.
Follow company policies and procedures

Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma
Associates degree in Automotive Technology or Engineering preferred
Years of Experience:
Minimum 3 years experience in automotive diagnostics and repair
Minimum 3 years automotive diagnostic experience using scan tools
Major Requirements:
Heavy experience in the current authoring environment
Very good understanding of files and structures used during authoring
Other Requirements:
OEM, SAE, or other certification in automotive diagnostics and repair or demonstrated proficiency in applications specialist position key tasks for at least 1 year
Capable of conducting root cause analysis of issues on designs of moderate complexity with assistance of design engineers
String understanding of how our products are used by our customers. Capable of demonstrating use of products.
PC skills in word processing, spreadsheets, email, scheduling
Ability to work directly with customer service, operations and sales on product related issues
Familiarity with current manufacturing processes and the hardware and software testing tools associated with them is preferred
