Job Summary
The Trading Analyst at VST is position within the Transformation and Analytics Team. This role supports the deployment of analytics models to enhance trading strategies and operational efficiencies. The analyst will conduct data analysis to support the identification of trading opportunities, create reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs), and assist in prioritizing operational performance initiatives. The position involves staying updated with market trends, conducting market research, and collaborating closely with other analysts and traders.Job Description
Key Accountabilities
Analytics Support:
•Develop and deploy analytics models to support trading strategies and improve operational efficiencies
•Conduct data analysis to identify potential trading opportunities and market trends
•Create and maintain reports and dashboards to track KPIs and trading metrics
Market Research:
•Stay updated with market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in the energy trading sector
•Conduct market research and prepare reports for internal stakeholders
•Assist in preparing market reports and communicating analytical findings to various stakeholders
Collaboration:
•Work closely with other analysts, IT, traders, and other Commercial stakeholders to align analytics initiatives with business priorities
•Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of trading strategies
Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team to support decision-making processes
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements
•Training in finance, economics, engineering, data science, mathematics and statistics
•Proficiency in coding with Python and, ideally, experience in software development.
•Proven experience in algo design, quantitative analysis, and advanced modeling including implementation of machine learning and AI solutions
•3+ years of relevant work experience (ideally on a trading desk, in quantitative analysis or operations research within a commodity trading context).
•Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior analysts and traders.
•Deep expertise in energy markets, including a strong familiarity with trading commodities and interpreting market, credit, and operational risks across multiple commodities and assets. Demonstrated commitment to staying updated with market trends and developments.
