INTERNSHIP SUMMARY: The Internship Program lasts for 10 weeks , during which you'll have the chance to work at the corporate office in Norfolk, VA. You will actively contribute to the 2025 Capstone Project and have the opportunity to engage in the Future Housing Leaders program. In addition, the program will provide educational aspects and provide an opportunity to gain industry knowledge through business interactions with senior leadership and job assignments.
Internships will be available in the following departments:
Inves tment Accounting :
Complete bank reconciliations for partnership and asset level books.
Assist with the tax withholding reconciliation project , delivery of K-1s and other tax forms.
Track and post Fund and Investor commitments and contributions.
Review bank reconciliations and ensure that reconciling items are cleared on a timely basis.
Assist in calculating monthly Asset Management fees and producing monthly billing statements.
Assist Manager of Partnership Accounting with reconciling partnership equity and investment balances.
Legal:
The successful candidate will have completed their first or second year of law school .
Assignments and responsibilities will include:
Assisting with real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and financings
Assisting in the review and drafting of non-disclosure agreements, corporate governance documents, vendor agreements and other documents
Interfacing with other departments such as Transactions, Asset Management and Human Resources
Risk Management:
Support insurance manager in administering property and casualty insurance programs.
Participate in claims activities such as weekly claims calls, bi-weekly litigation calls.
Support claim resolution issues
Evaluate incident reports and identify corrective actions and gaps in information.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required .
Currently enrolled in a 4-year accredited degree program in related field
Available for a 10-week internship commitment from June to August
Willing to travel for both the Kick-Off and Capstone events
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail, follow up and overseeing projects through completion
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint is a plus
Relevant experience, including internships, in real estate is a plus
Strong interpersonal & communications skills, both verbal and written
