Dining Services is seeking an experienced Accounting Officer to join our team. This role involves performing complex and repetitive accounting tasks that require independent judgment and initiative, along with a strong understanding of bookkeeping procedures and accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and process student and bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accurate payroll records are maintained.
Monitor vacation and sick leave for civil service employees, ensuring sufficient balances and compliance with PTO limits to prevent loss of vacation time.
Manage Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and extended sick leave requests, tracking hours as necessary.
Investigate payroll issues and respond to employee inquiries, resolving any discrepancies.
Enter Civil Service schedules on a weekly basis.
Assist in preparing monthly profit and loss statements for food services and maintain accurate accounting records.
Reconcile inventory records and oversee transfers between units.
Complete required forms for Special Programs, including daily production sheets and counts.
Maintain records of daily sign-in sheets and special changes, and verify information for monthly billings.
Input new program menus and calculate required paper product quantities.
Provide analytical support and operational insights to the Food Service Director, Business Office Manager, and Director of MUC.
Assist cashiers with bank reconciliations and secure change for registers.
Collaborate with the Student Personnel Manager to enter student schedules at the beginning of each semester.
Address inquiries from student workers regarding payroll and hour limitations for international students.
Review invoices and statements for accuracy, ensuring availability of funds, resolving discrepancies with submitting units, and processing transactions for the accounting system.
Support the Administrative Aide as needed and perform other related duties as assigned.
