The Village Network of Petaluma is one of 300 villages across the country serving older adults' social and emotional needs. In 2024, the Village celebrated its 10th anniversary as a Petaluma-based nonprofit. The Village provides more than 900 opportunities, annually, to engage with peers through activities, classes, learning experiences, and limited volunteer services.
The Member Relations and Volunteer Manager (MRVM) is the Village Network point person who supports Village-wide efforts to engage and grow our membership, enhance volunteer engagement, and increase our capacity to serve members. This role collaborates with the Executive Director, Operations Coordinator (OC), and our trained and motivated volunteer teams to ensure that Village programs and services are consistent with our "member-centered" mission, values, and culture.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Member Services
? Respond to new member inquiries, member needs, and requests.
? Coordinate communication with members.
? Work with the OC to process new member and volunteer forms. Volunteer Services
? Manage the volunteer programs including recruitment, training, placement, communications, and evaluation.
? Create content and train volunteer teams as needed.
? Supervise many different volunteer teams and activity meetings.
? Oversee effective data tracking and record keeping of all volunteer activities.
? Implement volunteer recognition activities. Village Programs and Social Events
? Collaborate with the ED and the program team and develop new and coordinate ongoing programs for members and volunteers.
? Manage logistics and scheduling of events.
? Coordinate scheduling and maintain the website calendar of events. Maintain Zoom calendar Daily Operations
? Field incoming calls and emails. Work with OC and office volunteers who provide administrative support for various duties and fund development initiatives.
? Meet with ED weekly.
KEY SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS
? Excellent written, oral, and electronic communication skills.
? Highly proficient in MS Office. A quick study, willing to learn custom data management systems.
? Proven project management and record-keeping skills.
? Highly organized, and detail-oriented, with strong attention to detail. Excellent ability to multi-task.
? Proven ability to prioritize, set effective boundaries and meet key objectives.
? Effective team player comfortable working in collaborative relationships.
? Upbeat/enthusiastic about supporting older adults and building a community aligned with the Village mission.
? Skilled communicator with various groups and individuals from all income levels, ethnicities, etc.
? Professional and service-oriented manner.
? A self-starter, comfortable with asking questions, reporting problems, and responding to changing priorities.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required:
? Professional experience in building and coordinating a volunteer program in a non-profit environment.
? Minimum of 2 years' experience supervising and mentoring staff and volunteers.
? Bachelor's degree.
Desired:
? At least 2 years' experience working with, or actively supporting, older adults.
? Professional work experience in aging, geriatrics, or gerontology.
? Knowledge of senior and other community services in the Petaluma area.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Hours: 30/week at $33/hour.
Location: Village Network of Petaluma, 3 days on-site, 2 days remote.
Benefits: 0.07179 PTO earned per hour worked. 9 paid holidays/year.
