Nature of Work
Conducts evaluations and inspections to ensure subcontractors performance and vendor products are to code and specifications. Reviews all submittals and drawings, conducts meetings as required, and keeps record of all quality control activities including inspection and testing. Plays a key role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and durability of construction projects.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Develops understanding / working knowledge of company quality control program, company standards, procedures, codes, etc. required to perform assigned work
Conduct subcontractors, project, and material inspections to ensure proper workmanship, as well as compliance with codes and specifications
Conducts thorough inspections of construction materials and overall workmanship to identify defects, deviations from specifications, and ensure compliance with company and industry standards
Assist in maintaining work performance records, inspection records, and other related items; ensure correctness of all documents; document any inspection findings or non-compliance issues using detailed reports, photographs, or other relevant documentation
Provide recommendations for corrective actions when defects or non-compliance issues are identified and track subsequent implementation and solution
Review subcontractors' submittals, as-builts, and operations / maintenance manuals for quality, consistency, and conformity to specifications
Schedules meetings as required with subcontractors, owners, etc.
Assists in coordinating quality control inspection schedules with other department schedules by collaborating with project managers, project engineers; work together to identify areas for process or quality improvement
Reviews design documents for contract compliance
Assist in training others on standards of quality, procedure, and best practices for quality consciousness
Exercise initiative or, as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization
Qualifications
1-3 years or more of related work experience preferred
Responsible for own work only; will have no supervisory responsibilities
Critical eye for identifying defects and a commitment to high quality construction standards
Ability to collaborate with and function well within a team-oriented environment
Ability to read and interpret construction documents; knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards required
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to learn new computer programs or software systems
Education
A minimum of a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent experience
Physical Demands and Working Environment
Physical demands for this position may be heavy. Physical exertion such as long periods of standing, lifting of heavy items (50 - 75 pounds), walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, climbing, or similar activities. The work may require specific but common physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity
Standard project site environment that may include machinery, parts, and chemicals. May require protective gear
