Description:
Role Title: Lead Structural Project Engineer
Work Location: Hybrid in Plano, TX
Responsibilities:
- Lead design team and ensure all projects stay on track.
- Oversee structural design of foundations and ancillary structures for utility-scale wind, solar, transmission line, and substation projects.
- Prepare or direct the creation of structural design reports, specifications, and plans.
- Review and approve project submittals and RFIs; support field activities during construction.
- Provide professional and technical support to multiple Westwood projects.
- Offer day-to-day support and input to internal and external Project Managers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
- EIT/FE or PE required; S.E. registration is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of structural engineering experience.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318).
- Knowledge of shallow and deep foundations, including spread footings, slab-on-grade, piles, and concrete caissons.
- Understanding of connection and anchorage design, such as cast-in-place, post-installed, welds, and high-strength bolts.
- Experience with steel member design, including wide flange, channel, pipe, plate, and angle sections.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) is essential.
- Proficiency with structural engineering software (e.g., Mathcad, STAAD, RISA, Enercalc, LPile) is a plus.
- Knowledge of bridge design and evaluation is advantageous.
- Background in geotechnical engineering, solar and wind energy, transmission and distribution, and substations is a plus.
- AutoCAD drafting experience is a plus.
- Effective verbal communication and technical writing skills.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Ability to use sound engineering judgment.
- Effective time and workload management skills, including planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.
- Minimal travel required.
