The Product Engineer provides technical support for assigned Makino product lines within the Makino Mason organization. This position provides support to the various groups within the Makino Mason organization including marketing, sales, order execution, field service, and proposal engineering. The Product Engineer provides technical and cost information for local option content for assigned product lines for use within the Makino Mason organization. Infrequent travel may be required to support the promotion, development, and installation of Makino products. This position will work out of the Mason, OH facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical support of local option content to the Makino Mason organization for assigned Makino product lines. This includes the following responsibilities.
Support the specifications for Makino product line requirements, i.e. coolant/chip conveyor systems.
Support the resolution of Makino product and option questions and issues pertaining to the areas of cost estimating and specification definitions.
Maintain, develop, and administer the requirements for layout drawings, and solid model data for assigned Makino product lines.
Provide support for the creation of machine option documentation for assigned Makino product lines, including machine specifications.
Create cost estimates for local machine option requests for assigned Makino product lines. This includes the following responsibilities.
Analysis of request for feasibility.
Definition & clarification of request for scope and content of option.
Investigate potential design options for cost and functionality.
Create cost estimates that include:
a breakdown of the costs,
a description of option functionality,
a list of assumptions, constraints, and limitations.
Document and archive the cost estimates.
Provides follow-up support to requesting organizations.
Review requests for impact on all product lines.
Updates option cost estimates per design changes of the Makino product lines, as identified within the Makino Inc. engineering organization.
Request and review cost estimates from other Makino global engineering organizations, such as Makino Tokyo, Makino Japan, and Makino Asia, for supplied machine options and products.

Strong working knowledge of engineering principles as applied to machine design
Working knowledge of metal cutting machine tools
Able to work with multiple disciplines within Makino to collect and coordinate pertinent technical and cost information to effectively complete assigned tasks.
Knowledge in the use of AutoCAD and SolidWorks packages.
Able to utilize MS Office products such as Word, Excel, etc.
Strong written and verbal English skills are required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
2 or 4 year degree in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering plus 4 or more years of Makino product experience or experience in the machine tool industry or equivalent.
