Client Development is a programmatic approach to growth, delivering on strategy, and operationalizing ways of working between Clients & Markets, Regions, and Technical Services in GHD. The Key Client Program (KCP) is core to GHD's organic growth plan.

This position is a critical role in aligning our strategic key client program in support of GHD's global Markets focused on Growth, exceptional Client Experience (CX) and Winning Work. As the Senior Strategic Client Advisor - United States, you will facilitate and influence the uptake and governance of GHD's Global CX strategy in addition to the Key Client Program (KCP) and Global CX strategy within North America, driving the development and performance of our Relationship Managers, responsible for Key Clients across a range of geographies and market sectors. This role will also partner with the enterprise Client Experience Team to roll out initiatives that globally align the KCP. In addition, this role will work collaboratively with the National Market Leaders to select emerging clients that will transition into the Key Client Program (KCP).

This role will report to the Americas Market and Corporate Development Leader and participate on the US Leadership Team.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:


  • Relationship Management (RM) Pipeline & Development
The RM is a critical role to growth at GHD and a role professionalized through the KCP. RM development will focus on a talent review and succession planning for essential KCP roles integrating opportunities for rising mid-level and YP talent. In partnership with the People Team and Learning Team, you will execute the RM Development Plan and create training and learning opportunities to develop leaders with high business acumen and focus on client centricity.

You will establish a process to identify future RMs. Responsibilities include RM succession, Learning & Development opportunities, working with the People Team on identifying talent, integrating YPs / New grads and into client accounts with RMs tied to the desired outcome on an account-by-account basis.
  • Execute the KCP key role succession planning program in partnership with the People Team.
  • Assess and execute RM development, training and recruitment strategies through the enterprise global tools.

    • KCP Communications
    Execute the KCP Communications in partnership with Marketing & Communications. While the KCP may be well understood by some, we need to continuously improve and embed its concepts into the Client Experience (CX) Way. The KCP is our enterprise flagship program for business development, account-based marketing, strategic account leadership, CX, and people development.
  • Influencing the importance of CX & Key Client Program internally, coordinating profile-raising activities and associated campaigns that elevate our key clients, the RM role, and the associated team members.
  • Highlight activities that promote Client Commitment to influence and drive a client experience, including client service awards, Relationship Management promotion and external client commitment activities.

    • KCP Coach/Mentor/Advisor
    Our enterprise Key Client program is a vital component in our efforts to put the client at the heart of everything we do and set the industry standard for exceptional client experiences helping to ensure that we remain at the forefront of the industry and continue to provide outstanding client experiences that set us apart from our competitors.

    You will have a passion for business development and client engagement to drive activities associated with delivering the Key Client Program, and advocacy with our clients. You'll assess, provide leadership, mentor, and support team members to contribute to overall success across the five stages of the client journey, from awareness to advocacy. You will make program recommendations that drive continuous improvement of client relationships and experiences, while achieving growth and positively impacting voice of the client outcomes.
  • Work in partnership to develop a proposed architecture/framework for identifying emerging key clients and sustainably incubating them into future key clients.
  • Partner with the Enterprise Client Experience team and the Client Experience officer to work on the Client Experience team initiatives.
