Maintenance Planning Manager




Responsibilities:

• Oversee the planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance activities to ensure efficient operation of facilities and equipment.


• Provide strong leadership and strategic planning to enhance maintenance processes.

• Enforce and monitor compliance with maintenance schedules, preventive maintenance standards, and programs for stationary and mobile heavy equipment.


• Ensure safety standards are met for all equipment within the area of responsibility, covering sites in Alabama and Georgia.


• Headquartered at the Axis, AL site, with travel required to other sites in Alabama and Georgia.


• Identify training needs and provide training for site maintenance personnel to ensure adherence to corporate and manufacturer maintenance standards.


• Approve the utilization and placement of all site equipment.


• Maintain comprehensive records for all site equipment.


• Compile justifications for the replacement versus repair of capital equipment.


• Analyze maintenance activities and costs using the computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and recommend corrective actions.


• Ensure all maintenance records are accurately recorded in the CMMS.


• Assist in the preparation and justification of budgets and establish priorities for maintenance and capital projects.


• Support the Area General Manager with special maintenance project requests or start-ups.


• Monitor the performance of site maintenance personnel, recommending corrective actions for underperformers and commendations for high performers.


• Conduct Site Maintenance audits.

Qualifications:

• Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic background.


• Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.


• Preference for candidates with a BA/BS degree or a combination of experience and education.


• Preference for candidates with 7+ years of experience in the scrap/metal industry or with off-highway heavy equipment.


• Ability to work effectively and independently as part of a cross-functional team, demonstrating teamwork and communication skills.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and ERP software.
