Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineering Lead is primarily responsible for developing and managing a team of engineers whose primary focus is the design and development of mechanical components and systems including, but not limited to, gas compression and separation systems, their components, and their accessories.
Responsibilities
Provide technical direction within a cross functional design engineering team to support timely completion of projects.
Ensuring adherence to company policies, processes, and procedures.
Maintaining a team of engineers which support the Business and Design Quality Objectives of the company.
Managing a team of Engineers, including determining proper staffing levels, providing for development and training, and conducting performance evaluations.
Leading by example of engineering design excellence.
Reviewing engineering calculations and design output for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
Assisting in the development of engineering design standards.
Working with engineering management team to develop engineering design guidelines and work instructions.
Monitoring work produced for quality, consistency, and adherence to design principles.
Prioritizing scheduled (e.g. projects) and non-scheduled (e.g. change orders, test support, and failure analysis) work to meet program requirements and company objectives.
Providing technical and engineering support as required for other departments.
Participating in technical problem solving for current products through cross departmental teams.
National and international travel as required to visit customers, vendors and attend seminars and training events.
Performing all assignments and other duties in the best interest of the company or as directed by the Design Engineering Manager.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
5 years relevant experience
Knowledge of machine design, material properties and selection, and manufacturing processes.
Ability to communicate with others to exchange information both orally and in writing.
Ability to read and interpret, drawings, codes, and specifications.
Proficiency in 3D computer aided design software (CAD).
Familiarity with the interpretation and application of the ASME Y14 series of drawing standards.
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or qualified U.S. Person in accordance with ALU 22CFR 120.15.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Engineering or Management.
10 years of relevant design engineering experience.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This position is regularly exposed to the following conditions:
Manufacturing, warehouse and office environments
While working near moving equipment, mechanical parts and lift trucks; must have the ability to follow safe operating procedures.
May be exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals.
Must have the following physical abilities:
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, reach, and lift.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a desk or table as well as machine tools or printers.
