This position will be responsible to provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) level day-to-day support of all automated and electro-mechanical process control systems used in licensed manufacturing (including dedicated clean utilities) of the building that the Automation EMT (Electro-Mechanical Technician) has been assigned to or site support assignments. The position will work with the Automation Site Support team, Operations personnel, QA Compliance, Information Systems, Engineering and Maintenance. The Automation EMT must exhibit strong customer communication skills and have technical knowledge of automated and electro-mechanical process control systems and equipment used in biotech/ pharmaceutical manufacturing and utility systems. This position will support all the automated systems and equipment installed in the new and existing manufacturing facilities, security, and support systems.
Main Responsibilities:
Expected results from this position would include hands-on support of automated systems in manufacturing,
troubleshooting of automated process equipment and process systems,
coordination of contractors,
execution of site change controls,
aiding in the investigation of process deviations,
providing expertise for process evaluation and product improvements for better quality and yields.
The position will provide improved response time to failures in manufacturing and implement site automation standard procedures and Global Engineering Practices.
About You
Experience with the following maintenance service activities including: Understand Piping/Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
Read, troubleshoot and repair hard-wired control systems using schematic and wiring diagrams
Capable of troubleshooting, online and offline programming PLC ladder logic and HMI/ SCADA database and screens
Capable of troubleshooting automation network systems
Basic knowledge of field instrumentation including transmitters, actuators, and signal converters
Basic knowledge of IT/IS systems and equipment, NEC classifications, and NEMA ratings
Basic experience with mechanical systems (e.g., gearboxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings).
Basic experience with compressors/ammonia systems (e.g., refrigeration systems).
Basic experience with conveyors and purveyors (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls).
Basic experience with gearing and gearboxes (rebuilds, ordering parts, machining parts).
Basic experience with kinematics (e.g., line speed/sprocket size ratios, etc.). Review rating instructions.
Basic experience with packaging/high-speed production (e.g., bottling, consumer products, etc.).
Basic experience with pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting).
Basic experience with pneumatics/air compression (e.g., valves, cylinders, etc.).
Basic experience with preventative maintenance (computerized preventative charts/data).
Basic experience with pumps (e.g., troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs).
Basic experience with SERVO (e.g., intelligent/robotic motors, in-coders, etc.).
Experience working in team-based environments (working together with others).
Familiar with local and federal code requirements such as FDA CFR, NFPA/ NEC, OSHA, DEP, EPA, and industry standards & guidelines including ISA, ISPE, GAMP5.
Familiar with process and utility equipment such as fermentation, purification, clean steam generators, Water For Injection (WFI), Clean/ Sterilize In Place systems (CIP/ SIP) systems, Building HVAC controls, and water/wastewater treatment systems.
Education/experience
HS/GED with 4 years plus experience with control systems OR an Associates degree with previous experience in Automation/EMT Technician or an electrical-related environment.
