Overview
CEDAR is currently looking for a Research Engineer with experience and expertise in the areas of:
Bio/polymer chemistry
Bio/conjugation chemistry
Proteomics/protein sequencing
As a Research Engineer 1 or 2, you will be part of collaborative project teams focused the PROSE project to advance early cancer detection. Under minimal supervision, you will use your training and experience to design, develop, deploy, support, and integrate engineering products and services. Provide complex architecture design, infrastructure planning, installation and configuration, application development and integration, as well as maintenance and support for overall performance. You will maintain a high level of professional expertise in the field, work under minimal supervision to generate research data, design and execute experiments, and establish procedures and systems to enforce and maintain a high level of organization in the lab. You will also contribute to technical writing and presentations when necessary.
This role is a temporary position. The project end date is: 04/20/2025.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently manage a project in the laboratory and design experiments using molecular biology technical procedures including sample processing, functionalization and characterization of solid supports with nucleic acids and/or peptides, PCR, capillary gel electrophoresis, HPLC, plate readers, NGS library preparation, bioconjugation strategies and biomolecule purification techniques.
Collect, record, organize, and verify the accuracy of data; keep detailed and accurate laboratory records; tabulate data, perform calculations, prepare charts, graphs and reports. May use software applications to assemble, manipulate, format and/or perform statistical analysis of data.
Responsibilities
Education & experience (Research Engineer 1):
Bachelor's in relevant field
Education & experience(Research Engineer 2):
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field AND 3 years of relevant experience
Experience with bioconjugation of biomolecules and biomolecules purification, general molecular biology techniques such as sample processing, DNA/RNA purification, PCR, capillary gel electrophoresis, HPLC, plate readers, NGS library preparation
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
Must possess energy and drive to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
Qualifications
Working knowledge of NGS sequencing and data analysis pipelines (PacBio, Illumina, nanopore platforms)
Familiar with machine learning principles and models
