The Chemical Engineer will contribute to our company's leadership and engagement in the data center industry; support our cross-functional and global product development teams; manage a variety of tasks and activities as required in this dynamic environment; and solve complex problems through testing and data analysis where no precedence exists.
Responsibilities:
Be the expert on heat transfer fluid (water, glycols, oils) best practices, providing thought leadership and guidance to the organization.
Define fluid compatibility design validation tests (DVT) content for new product development (NPD) for liquid cooling and help to drive lab development capital projects / third party services for fluid validation.
Participate in industry groups to help set standards for fluid quality and compatibility in the rapidly growing area of liquid cooling for datacenter systems. Define our path to market-leading fluid systems reliability.
Collaborate with key customers to solve problems, set specifications, and meet requirements for reliable thermal fluid systems in their datacenter applications. Support R&D collaboration around fluid systems.
Support installation and service teams as they define best practices, scope of work, and maintenance procedures for our fluid systems in the field. Support other business elements with fluid expertise.
Provide added fluid expertise and compatibility guidance, also for refrigerant and 2-phase fluid systems.
Mentor other engineers in fluid compatibility knowledge and practices.
Provide technical leadership both in-house and industry facing, for fluid topics.
Demonstrate company commitment to fluid reliability and compatibility.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering -OR- related degree with water quality focus
5+ years of career experience working with water chemistry as an individual contributor
Experience with fluid (water / glycol) quality monitoring and specification
Understanding of fluid compatibility, wetted materials selection, and treatment systems
Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment independently and as a member of dynamic teams; offer and receive constructive criticism
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate, analyze and present data
Interest and ability for writing standards, specifications, and procedures
English, fluently written and spoken
Travel ~10%
Preferred Requirements:
Advanced degree, additional experience, engineering society involvement
Experience working in a global corporation, with product manufacturing and service teams
Certification / experience in water quality engineering, plant operation, fluid systems design
Understanding and respect for phases of new product development process, program management
Experience with datacenter thermal systems, chilled water plant design, other building fluid systems
Travel ~20%
