The Director Fire and Emergency Services is responsible for developing, scheduling, administering, and monitoring fire and emergency services training courses in accordance with the institutional policy and procedure, and complying with standards mandated by the NC office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM). The Director provides leadership in all phases of the fire and emergency services programs and shall act as a liaison between the communities of interest and the programs.

1. Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the instructional delivery of assigned program areas consistent with the goals, policies, and procedures of the College, OSFM, and OEMS
2. Supervise instructor and instruction of fire, rescue, and emergency management, and EMS classes
3. Manages staff to prioritize and assign work; conducting performance evaluations; ensures staff are trained; ensures that employees follow policies and procedures; maintains a healthy and safe working environment; and make hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations
4. Prepares, reviews, interprets, and analyzes various complex and multi-faceted information, data, contracts, forms, schedules, calendars, surveys, and reports; makes decisions based on findings
5. Works collaboratively with fire consortium groups, advisory boards, and community stakeholders to create and deliver training opportunities to meet industry needs
6. Monitors a budget; prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations; submits justifications for budget items; makes and controls expenditures
7. Utilize college technology for the completion of operational processes; this includes but is not limited to the college's learning
8. Support student advising, registration, and recruitment efforts, as appropriate or required
9. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

12. Represent Rowan-Cabarrus on state and regional advisory committees and boards

14. Participate in professional development opportunities (selected or assigned) in order to enhance and apply knowledge/skills within the discipline, to effectively utilize required course technology and College applications, and to maintain licensures (as applicable)
