The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Dermatology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Post Doctoral Associate to work in Miami, FL.
The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through contributions to the scientific community.
Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.
Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.
Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions 50%
Candidate will function as a Post doctoral associate in the Department of Dermatology- Wound Healing and Regeneration research program in which translational approaches are taken to study molecular mechanisms of inflammation and fibrosis in skin repair responses.
Candidate will have prior experience with core molecular biology techniques specified below to conduct and interpret experiments that advance the laboratory's research goals. Candidates must have previously demonstrated the ability to work creatively and independently.
Plan and conduct assigned and/or original research projects autonomously while working collaboratively with UM faculty, staff, postdocs and students.
Perform standard cell and molecular biology laboratory techniques including RNA isolation, real-time qPCR (experimental setup and data analysis), immunofluorescence and/or immunohistochemistry, sterile cell culture technique, western blots, flow cytometry
Perform genomic data analyses from next generation sequencing data (eg. RNAseq, scRNAseq, spatial profiling).
Review laboratory methods manual, scientific journals, abstracts and other literature for information applicable to research experiments
Collect, organize, analyze and draw conclusions from experimental data
Maintain accurate records of research findings and the analysis of results.
Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publications and grant preparations.
Present research findings at professional meetings.
Display effective oral and written communication skills in the English language.

Ph.D. in relevant field
No prior experience required
Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
