Kleinfelder is offering a student intern position for a current university student who is pursuing a degree in Anthropology/Archaeology in Hawaii. This is a temporary position meant to provide career development and technical training to a student who is interested in gaining on-the-job experience. The student intern will work with a team of archaeologists under the direction of a senior archaeologist/Field Director to perform field tasks, including shoveling, screening, and sorting of archaeological materials.

Qualifications

• Currently in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology/Archaeology.

• Hawaiʻi or other Pacific Island experience is strongly preferred.

• Must have own transportation with a satisfactory driving record.

• Must complete a background check.

• Must complete a pre-employment physical to ensure fitness for duty.

• Ability to work well with and as part of a team, especially during hot field conditions.

The responsibilities and expectations for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Candidates must be able and willing to work outdoors for extended periods under all weather conditions (especially high heat and humidity), sometimes in rugged terrain and conditions.

• Ability to learn how to perform basic archaeological field tasks.

• Ability to learn how to recognize archaeological resources in the field.

• Communicate efficiently both verbally and in written form and have attention to detail.

• Help maintain a safe work environment.
