Wells Fargo is seeking a Business Risk Manager to support the Mortgage Modeling Development Center (MMDC). This position will have dual report to the Head of the MMDC and the Head of the Business Risk, Administration, Strategy and Support (BRASS) team. The role includes initiatives focused on significant model development initiatives for new and existing models, large-scale technology changes, as well as operational risk and compliance programmatic changes and implementation.
This position will also be responsible for managing cross-team business-as-usual activities such as managing audits, regulatory exams, logging, and address SHRP issues and findings, third party contracts, systems access, annual staff management routines.
In this role, you will:
Partner with management and strategic enterprise partners to execute significant business initiatives including prioritization and budgeting of identified areas for investment and business development priorities.
Develop presentations on behalf of Quant Modeling leaders, including executive-level business updates, regulator presentations, and strategic initiative updates.
Lead critical model governance and operational risk initiatives and activities such as: RCSA, issue remediation, Third Party vendor management,
Facilitate the professional development of team members including assisting with recruiting, training, development and mentoring opportunities that would benefit the team.
Drive accountability across internal functions supporting the business. Define an infrastructure and operational strategy to keep pace with business priorities and regulatory requirements.
Constantly ensure appropriate prioritization of business efforts across operations, technology, risk, finance, human capital, and strategic programs.
Develop understanding of overall Model Development delivery "Book of Work" and support prioritization process for those dependencies
Aware of external drivers (e.g. Policy, Regulatory) that add to scope of projects to ensure all aspects are incorporated in the solutions
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of Business Execution, Implementation, or Strategic Planning experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
A BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, or economics
4+ years of model development or model management experience or mortgage-backed security (MBS) research experience
Experience with model risk management, including regulatory policies (SR 11-7, SR 15-18)
4+ years of capital markets experience
JIRA experience
Strong understanding and background in delivery of quant-tech initiatives
Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment and self-lead
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
Experience in project and initiative management
Job Expectations:
Willingness to work on-site at stated location on the job opening
Position Hours: Monday - Friday (as early as 7 am and as late as 6 pm).
Ability to work additional hours as needed
