Job Title: Plant Training Specialist
Department: Mfg & Operations
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Overview:
The Plant Training Specialist will be a critical contributor in a mission that truly represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join a company that is making significant investments in establishing US manufacturing, expanding internationally, and delivering a consistent cadence of product innovations to the market and investing in its people.
The successful candidate will enable the training of a team of Manufacturing Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, Quality Technicians, and Logistics Technicians to ensure the successful production of our signature product. This individual will be responsible for training employees to current procedures, identify and update procedures as necessary, develop training for assigned department, and provide training to those new procedures. This position requires strong oral and written communication skills, mechanical aptitude, technical ability, and problem-solving skills, ability to read and understand a variety of documents pertaining to manufacturing, including but not limited to; blue-prints, schematics, maintenance manuals, bills of laden, and quality documentation. This individual must possess the willingness to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Support the training of Insulet's US Manufacturing Operations, focusing on current deficiencies, procedural improvements, and operational efficiency through training.
Document and report status of training goals; using operational scorecards.
Identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations for solutions.
Ensure the use of consistent processes and procedures to support efficient operations and enhance product quality.
Support training of incoming assigned Employees to current procedures.
Maintain all current training documents and update/correct as necessary to improve operational efficiency.
Periodically review training documentation with tenured employees to update accordingly for operational effectiveness.
Respond to Non-Conformance and production issues by working within the operations teams to update training documents, as necessary.
Update training documents to reflect solutions for mechanical errors, safety issues or general operating inefficiencies within the production processes and enable the training of employees to these new documents.
Interface directly with cross-functional departments to help drive training effectiveness in all areas of the manufacturing environment.
Able to write and/or revise production work instructions, preventative maintenance tasks, equipment documentation, quality documentation, and shipping/receiving documentation.
Safely follow standard operating procedures including but not limited to material handling, record keeping, packaging, and shipment preparation. Must follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Notifies Line Manager or Production Manager of any discrepancies to ensure highest training standards and safety of operations are always maintained.
Excellent attention to detail, good organization, and capable of working independently.
Able to work in small groups and cross functional teams to troubleshoot issues, identify and implement collective corrective actions.
Train technical trainers on the training processes, mechanical processes, equipment, and general operations procedures.

Coordinate with 3rd party vendors to facilitate training as necessary.
Education and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors or equivalent experience.
1+ years' experience with training facilitation and design with leaders and individual contributors.
Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in Medical Device manufacturing or cGMP regulated industry.
Ability to develop, audit, improve, and present training course material to individuals and groups and to effectively facilitate their learning process
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
Strong planning, organization, and multitasking skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Previous experience working in a clean room environment.
Previous experience with assembling, debugging, and optimizing discrete component assembly processes.
Previous experience with technologies such as laser welding, heat staking, ultrasonic welding, and ESD-sensitive devices.
Familiarity with machining equipment and processes such as milling machines, lathes and grinders.
Experience in a start-up production environment is a plus.
Experience working with Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
Experience working with discrete component assembly
Familiarity with manufacturing instrumentation such as optical gauging, video microscopes, micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges, dial indicators, and gauge blocks.
Self-starter capable of dealing with a variety of tasks in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
Ideal candidate will have keen eye for quality, is dependable, and will work collaboratively within a team, and possess a positive attitude.
Mechanical Aptitude - Knowledge of and experience with automated machines and tools, including design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Production & Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, measurement instruments, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for the manufacture and distribution of goods.
Mathematics - Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra and/or geometry.
Problem Solving - Recognizes problems and understands root cause analysis techniques/concepts.
Detail Oriented - Strong attention to detail.
Physical Requirements (if applicable):
Required to stand for at least 50% of working time per shift, with walking at least 50% of working time per shift.
Required to reach above shoulder frequently and below waist occasionally.
Required to push and pull.

Additional Information: The US base salary range for this full-time position is $62,700.00 - $94,050.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
