In partnership with the Sr. Director of Human Resources, provides oversight on plan management and administration of the 401(k) plan, conducting committee meetings and annual filings, all employee welfare benefits, compensation programs and oversight of the administration of benefits programs, such as tuition reimbursement, service anniversaries, wellness programs, etc.
In collaboration with our benefits broker, manage carrier relationships, annual plan reviews, designs, develops, and implements benefits solutions that are aligned with SubCom's strategy and competitive with the external market. Improves programs to meet business needs within budget.
Manages the open enrollment process, including communications, negotiations, systems updates, vendor management and vendor files.
[Work with HRIS team to ensure benefits administration is operating effectively within HRIS, including updates for changes due to modifications in plans. Work with IT teams to set up automatic carrier file feeds as needed.
In collaboration with our benefits brokers, provides data analysis to leadership on a regular and/or ad-hoc basis and provides recommendations for improvement to exiting plans to fit the strategy of the business.
Manages vendors and provides feedback regarding performance. Keeps senior leadership informed of any issues.
Ensures competitiveness of programs in order to attract, develop, and retain a high performing and engaged workforce.
Understands the business environment and the legal framework in which SubCom operates (lifecycles, strategies, external business conditions, etc.) to drive the effective implementation of benefits programs, projects, and policies.
Ensures benefits administration is in alignment with company policies and federal and state guidelines, drives policy enhancement while ensuring legal compliance.
Maintain benefit documentation for all carriers (contracts, invoices, COBRA, employee benefit/wellness guide), ensure filing of 5500's and distribution of benefit summaries as required.
Develops, delivers and maintains effective employee communications, including but not limited to, training, policies and procedures, benefits presentations, and all benefits materials.
Supervises benefits department staff in a collaborative manner.
Acts as a subject matter expert to management on all benefit plan content.
Ensures all processes under area of responsibility are clearly documented and collaborates with HR leadership to develop and ensure the continuous improvement of department guidelines, practices, procedures, policies, performance metrics and costs.
Ensures benefits issues are addressed in a timely and efficient manner while providing exemplary customer service.
Working with business partners, manage the global Benefits Programs and work with local countries for any required filings.
Document and manage benefits payments against annual budget expenses. Approve invoices and ensure payments are up to date and paid on time.
May be required to travel up to 10%.
Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years' experience managing benefits programs required. Experience in compensation management preferred.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a benefits management role required.
Experience in designing and managing cost efficient domestic and global benefits programs, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k) and wellness programs.
Strong financial business acumen with ability to analyze data and develop recommendations for complex problems required. Actuarial experience highly desirable.
Advanced understanding of rewards regulations, market trends, and program design, as well as legislation that may affect policies/practices, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and other applicable Department of Labor (DOL) and/or tax laws.
Advanced understanding of benefits administration. In-depth knowledge of benefits trends, including new and progressive programs or offerings.
Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex projects in the benefits area.
Excellent knowledge of MS Office required, including proficiency in Excel required.
Knowledge/experience with HRIS required, Paycom experience preferred.
Strong communication skills with ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Must enjoy working in a fast paced and high-volume position in which multi-tasking is a necessity.
Ability to exercise discretion, judgment, tact, and poise in handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
Ability to pass a background and credit check.
