Position: Journeyperson Equipment Operator

Summary: We are seeking a certified Journeyperson Equipment Operator with a registered Apprenticeship number to join our team. In this role, you will work on a disaster recovery project in Central California for a short-term project. The ideal candidate possesses Journey level expertise in operating an Excavator or Skidsteer equipment safely and efficiently in challenging outdoor environments.

Essential Responsibilities:

Operate heavy equipment such as excavators and skidsteers for disaster recovery restoration.
Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure safety and optimal performance.
Collaborate closely with crew members to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.
Report any equipment malfunctions or issues promptly to the supervisor.
Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and regulations.
Assist with additional on-site tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

Certified Journeyperson with a registered Apprenticeship number.
Minimum of 4 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
Proven ability to work in remote locations and challenging outdoor conditions.
Has successfully completed an Operating Engineer Apprenticeship program.
Capability to perform minor repairs and troubleshoot equipment issues.
Has a current Hazwopper Training Certificate or can renew.
Must complete a Hazmat Physical and pass exam.
Pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Physical Demands:

Ability to sit for extended periods and operate heavy equipment.
Able to push and pull with hands, arms, and feet repetitively.
Must have good visual and auditory physical capabilities in order to manage sight and sounds in a hazardous construction environment.
Able to push, pull, climb, sit, and stretch regularly while performing the essential functions of the job.
Able to be alert and cognitive of multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including awareness of other employees, subcontractors, machinery, equipment, and moving traffic when applicable.
Ability to work around loud noises.
Coordination between hands, eyes, feet to guide equipment and objects is required.
Must be able to mount and dismount safely off vehicles and equipment.
Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Must be able to walk on uneven terrain.
Able to lift up to 50 to 80 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and challenging terrain.
Work in a Hazmat suit and gear in a disaster recovery fire area site.


Work Environment:

Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
Exposure to challenging terrains and loud noise.
Exposure to fumes, odors, gases, soot, ash, dust, etc.
Expose to all elements of nature on a regular basis.


Travel:

Willingness to travel to the job sites in Central California and stay near job site for 6 days per week. Lodging will be provided.
