DEPT: Campus Safety HOURS: 40 Hours Per Week: 6:45 am to 3:15 pm Sunday; 10 am to 6:30 pm Monday to Thursday FT/PT/TEMP: Full-Time EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt LOCATION: On-Campus, Pasadena, CA
BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Campus Safety Security Officers report to the Director of Auxiliary Services and are responsible for providing for the safety and security of seminary students, faculty, staff, guests and property. Examples of duties:
Patrols assigned areas on foot, or by vehicle, checking for suspicious activity or persons, safety and security hazards, fires, and vandalism.
Provides proactive community engagement to faculty, staff, students and members of the public.
Reports and thoroughly documents through written incident reports hazards, crimes, and unusual or suspicious activity or persons.
Checks doors, opens and secures buildings, provides security escort service and other assistance.
Escorts unauthorized/unwanted or disruptive visitors from seminary property.
Performs other duties as assigned including dispatch and physical security functions and special event services.
Checks in guests in the library.
Completes mandatory training as required and attends assigned training as directed.
Follows Campus Safety policies, directives and other guidance from leaders and managers.
Follows Human Resource policies, directives and other guidance from leaders and managers.
Follows seminary policies, directives and other guidance from leaders and managers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Two years’ experience in law enforcement and/or uniformed security or any equivalent combination of experience and training approved by Human Resources.
Team player and desire to help others.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to follow directions, guidance and directives from managers and senior leaders.
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, excellent driving record and personal history.
Possession of a valid B.S.I.S Guard card.
Possession of, or willingness to obtain, CPR and First Aid certificate.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with the public, faculty, staff and students.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and make prompt decisions regarding issues that arise.
Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays as required.
Ability to pass a criminal background and DMV check.
Physical Abilities:
Physically and mentally able to perform the essential duties of the position without hazard to themselves or others, sitting, standing, climbing and walking for extended period of time; driving a vehicle; bending, kneeling and reaching, hearing and speaking at normal levels to communicate effectively with others; near and far visual acuity and depth perception; and dexterity of hands and finger to operate equipment.

Pay Scale:
Hourly rate the seminary expects to pay: $19.00 per hour USD
