The Electrical Trades Department at Alfred State College is excited to welcome a passionate and skilled instructor to join our dynamic Construction and Maintenance Curriculum for the 2025-2026 academic school year. We're seeking an individual who is not only experienced in electrical trades but also eager to inspire and guide our students to success in this essential field. This position will have an August 2025 start date.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of AC/DC electrical theory, applied mathematics, and a hands-on knowledge of the National Electrical Code (N.E.C.). Expertise in electrical instrumentation, test equipment, and a solid background in residential and commercial wiring?including conduit and raceway design and bending calculations?are key for this role.
In this position, you'll teach both lecture and lab courses, lead project-based learning at off-campus sites, and manage live work assignments. You'll guide students as they develop their skills in real-world settings, and your experience with mid-sized work crews (20+ people) will be essential. You'll also support students through advisement and recruitment activities, while handling program administration, record-keeping, and purchasing tasks.
This role offers a unique blend of teaching and practical application in a supportive environment. Your proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is a plus as you engage in committee work and contribute to the department's success.
