Job Summary:Provide knowledge, guidance and assistance to ensure an effective course scheduling program for the college. Collaborate with all college departments to monitor, facilitate, and develop a districtwide course schedule with attention to state, regional, and programmatic regulatory and governing standards, including but not limited to, laws, regulations, statutes, codes, policies, procedures, rules, and directives. This position will report to the dean of districtwide scheduling.
Required Qualifications:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with assigned academic divisions, the district manager of academic scheduling, and the dean of districtwide scheduling to plan and build the schedule of classes each semester. Schedule types include workforce, transfer credit and continuing education.
Analyze proposed course schedules across campuses/centers and to a lesser extent across the college district to align with recommended course sequences for academic and continuing education programs. Identify potential conflicts for student enrollments (e.g. restrictions based upon prerequisites/corequisites, traditional course scheduling patterns, etc.) and recommend solutions to the district manager of academic scheduling to alleviate any identified conflicts.
Work extensively with appropriate software to eliminate roadblocks for students in their program pursuit and to create a comprehensive and efficient multi-year course schedule for the district.
Work to ensure the use of standardized course scheduling patterns across the district to ensure standardized class meeting days/times to allow more effective student course planning. Collect requests to schedule courses outside of standardized patterns from academic divisions and assist the division with seeking approval for granting such exceptions, as necessary.
Build course sections in the college's student information system with accuracy, and work with division offices to ensure that appropriate amounts of instructional contact time are included in all course sections.
Review the faculty load report for each academic division to ensure that faculty assignments are accurately compensated according to the Faculty Load Compensation Guidelines. Report any errors in faculty load identified to the district manager academic scheduling, and upon direction work with academic divisions to address correct errors.
May travel between campuses to attend meetings, workshops, and seminars.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and one (1) year of experience coordinating course schedules or similar scheduling job duties.
Preferred
One (1) year of college course building experience.
Equivalency Language
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
