Position Summary
Responsible for leadership of all facility Safety, Health and Environmental Control functions. Ensures compliance to all applicable Corporate, Federal, State and local safety, industrial hygiene, fire code and environmental regulations/policies. Provides technical expertise to facility, interpreting data, identifying hazards, assessing risk and implementing solutions to prevent serious injury, environmental impact and property damage. Provides input as a part of site plant staff on overall plant general policies and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
•Maintain current knowledge of Federal, state and local Safety/Industrial Hygiene/Environmental regulations, codes and other communications and advise management of compliance status and of conditions requiring attention.
•Analyze statistical data, identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
•Collaborate with the VP of Operations and Staff to develop plant procedures, policies, action plans, practices, and rules to reduce all forms of losses.
•Establish and administer Safety, Health and Environmental Department budget. Analyze and recommend expenditures for safety equipment, guarding devices, alarm systems, etc.
•Hire, train, evaluate and develop a qualified EHS staff.
•Provide technical guidance and resolution of key safety, industrial hygiene, environmental, ergonomic, and fire protection issues.
•Conduct project review and provide early loss control input to engineering and operating management on new or changed processes and/or equipment.
•Develop, implement, communicate and manage various loss control programs including, but not limited to, lockout/tag out, confined space entry, industrial hygiene monitoring, hearing conservation, chemical right-to-know, community right-to-know, etc.
•Motivate and instill safety awareness in all plant employees through development and management of training, incentive (e.g. level appropriate site safety objectives) and communication programs.
•Serve as the facility's environmental liaison with state, regional and local regulatory agencies and committees.
•Develop and coordinate plans for emergencies, response teams, spill cleanup and disaster planning.
•Provide management with detailed reports on all major property losses and human injury.
•Loss control contact for fire insurance issues and inspections.
•Member of plant managing staff.
•Work on special projects as they arise.

•Work with minimum Supervision, Responsible for establishing EHS Plan for site with input from Global EHS Director/Manager and site staff. Normally receives general direction on a monthly basis. Lead Person in area of EHS issues.
•Receives general direction from direct manager.
•Responsible for Environmental and OSHA compliance which may have impact on introduction of new products.
•Loss control efforts can impact insurance cost for risk protection and directly affect site operating cost thru reduction of workers compensation costs to site. Efforts also affect employee and public good will thru regulatory compliance
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
•Must be at least 18 years of age
•Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
•Certification, Registration or Licensure preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
•Minimum of 5 years of experience required.
•Experience in loss control, safety, industrial hygiene, environmental safety, emergency response, or related fields.
•Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
•Strong mechanical knowledge or understanding of manufacturing operations.
Work Environment
•This is largely a sedentary role.
•This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
•Office; Exposure to chemical hazards, noise and radiation. Manufacturing and Warehouse environments
•Some physical exertion required including minimal lifting of < 50 lbs., climbing and walking
•Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
