LOCATION: Eglin AFB, FL – On Site

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Work will be performed on Eglin Main and will report to the Fabrication and Installation facility. Work requires the set up and operation of machinery such as lathes, drill presses, brakes, milling machines, and other precision tools as well as CNC programming operations.

GENERAL DUTIES:

• The senior maintenance machinist produces replacement parts and new parts in making repairs of metal parts of mechanical equipment.
• Work involves most of the following: interpreting written instructions and specifications, planning and laying out of work, using a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments, setting up and operating standard machine tools.
• Must be able to interpret written instructions, blueprints, and be familiar with government specifications and possess a working knowledge of computer programming machines using conversational programming or master cam/solid works.
• This incumbent is responsible for the shaping of metal parts to close tolerances, making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds of machining; knowledge of the working properties of the common metals, selecting standard materials, parts, and equipment required for this work; and fitting and assembling parts into mechanical equipment.
• In general, the machinist's work normally requires a rounded training in machine-shop practice, usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Job Requirements:

OTHER DUTIES: Other duties include general housekeeping of work area and cleanup of machinery. May be required to work with hazardous material and/or collect hazardous waste.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must have formal training in machine shop practices acquired through vocational or military service school training and 3 years of experience or 5 years of experience in the machinist trade. Must have a working knowledge of conversational and CNC programming with master cam. Must be able to MIG and TIG tack weld, silver solder and work with sheet metal.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is normally accomplished within an environmentally controlled, heated and cooled shop area subject to machinery noise, but occasionally may require outdoor work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical effort required consists of crawling, bending, stooping, and standing, may be required to move or lift heavy items during the performance of duties. Close hand and eye coordination is required in performing many varied tasks.
